KIGALI, Sept 8 (AFP) - Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) President Laurent Kabila arrived in Kigali on Monday for talks with Rwandan leaders on the festering problem of refugees in the former Zaire.
Kabila is to meet with Defense Minister Paul Kagame in his first official visit to Rwanda, which became a close ally since Kabila's rebel movement swept him to power in the DRC in May.
The visit coincides with the expulsion by DRC of 780 Rwandan and Burundian refugees from a camp near northeastern Kisangani, where UN investigators are about to probe allegations of atrocities committed against refugees.
The move prompted the UN refugee agency to condemn a "blatant breach" of international conventions and call for a review of the agency's operations in the former Zaire.
