BRUSSELS, April 20 (Reuter) - Following are highlights of the European
Commission's midday briefing on Wednesday:
Commission spokesman Peter Guilford said that the EU-Japan ministerial
meeting in Tokyo due to start Friday had been postponed as the new
Japanese government and prime minister have yet to be chosen.
In answer to a question Guilford said that no major decisions were
expected during talks on reducing aluminium output on Thursday between
representatives from Australia, Canada, Norway, Russia, the U.S. and
the EU. He said it would be a preparatory meeting for a further one in
Canberra in May.
He added that it would take place between 0800 gmt and 1500 gmt at the
Borschette centre in Brussels.
