BERNE, April 10 (Reuter) - Thirty-three Swiss nationals who fled Rwanda
have arrived safely in neighbouring Burundi and a second group is
waiting to be transported from Kigali, a foreign ministry spokesman
said on Sunday.
He said the Swiss had arrived in the Burundi capital Bujumbura in a
convoy on Saturday.
The second group of about 80 Swiss nationals is safe and the Swiss
legation in Rwanda is coordinating their evacuation with the embassies
of other countries, the spokesman said.
We expect that the fastest way (to evacuate them) would be with the
airlift being conducted by the French, but we do not exclude other
methods,
he said.
The spokesman said other Swiss nationals were preparing to leave
Rwanda, where thousands have died in ethnic violence.
