NAIROBI: Rwanda Patriotic Front (FPR) rebels and government forces clashed north of Kigali as rebels marched on the capital from their northern bases, diplomats said, after the FPR rejected an interim government set up amid the country's latest bloodbath. French and Belgian troops were sent to Kigali, where French soldiers secured the airport in preparation for evacuation of foreign nationals from a string of western countries, while US troops reached neighbouring Burundi. More unrest was reported in Kigali, where thousands have been killed two days of ethnic warfare. (AFP)
