BUKAVU, Zaire, Feb 11 (AFP) - The UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Sadako Ogata arrived here on Saturday ahead of a one-day visit to Rwandan refugee camps in eastern Zaire.
Ogata arrived after talks with Zairean President Mobutu sese Seko in Gbadolite, also in eastern Zaire.
The UN refugee chief is to travel to nearby Goma on Sunday afternoon to visit camps there housing Rwandan refugees.
She is then due in the Rwandan capital, Kigali, and the Ugandan capital, Kampala, before attending a conference on Rwanda and Burundi scheduled to start in the capital Burundian Bujumbura on Wednesday.
More than two million Rwandans fled their country last year during and after three months of ethnic carnage in which more than 500,000 are estimated to have died.
