KIGALI, Jan 25 (AFP) - Most of the Burundians who fled to Rwanda after clashes in the north of their country two months ago have started to return home, an official source said here Saturday.
Only 1,550 of the 9,000 refugees registered in Gikongoro prefecture in southern Rwanda remained, the source said.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the Rwandan Red Cross have set up a new camp in the town of Mubuga to house Burundians who refuse to go home, according to a well-informed source.
Fighting between government troops and rebels late November in Bujumbura left 551 people dead, according to official figures.
